Pets of the Month

Each month we feature a few of our pets, usually the ones that have been there the longest, or have special needs.

Penny is our Cat of the Month

she was actually born in our shelter in May of 2006 ! She has been in the shelter far longer than any cat except her brother Pride. Their mom was very wild when she came in and so terrified, a lot of shelters would have put her down. But she had 5 healthy babies that were handles daily by a foster "mom" and they all turned out to be totally loving kitties ! The other babies soon found homes, but still Penny and Pride wait. Do you need another cat ? No ? Maybe another cat or two need you.

Dog of the Month

Dog of the Month

Annie
She has been in our shelter for many months and each day we worry she is losing hope. She loves us all at the shelter, but knows in her heart that there is a better place for her.A place where she is not in a 6x10 kennel, but in her people's house following them with her adoring eyes.
We know someone will finally come that will love her as much as we do, but until then our hearts are heavy as she waits for her forever home. She loves women, but appears to be intimidated by some men. It may be that she has just never been around men. Men tend to be scarier to dogs because of their voices, their stance that appears to the dogs as a predator, or sometimes just that some men are much bigger than women. Which ever the case is, it doesn't mean that she will never warm up to men, that will depend on what chance she is given.

As we are a no-kill shelter, Annie will stay here for as long as it takes to find the perfect home for her. In the mean time if you don't think you need another dog, maybe one needs you ! Ask about our foster program. We provide food and medical attention and you  provide a loving atmosphere to prepare them for their forever home ! Fostering can be short term or up to 4-5 months, and a foster "mom" or "dad" gets first option if they do decide they want to keep their "foster child"
