A Legacy of Compassion Since 2002 – A Rescue Is Born
In May 2002, Priest River Animal Rescue (PRAR) was founded by dedicated animal advocates determined to provide a safe haven for lost, abandoned, injured, and unwanted animals.
Later that year, PRAR received federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, creating the foundation for a lasting animal welfare organization serving Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington.
A dream was born: every animal deserves a second chance.
2002-2015 • Building Hope One Animal at a Time
During its early years, PRAR established its no-kill rescue philosophy and developed lifesaving programs including:
Rescue & Rehoming – Foster Care – Vaccinations & Medical Treatment
Humane Education – Responsible Pet Ownership – Spay & Neuter Advocacy
With every adoption, the community’s support continued to grow.
2016-2020 • Strengthening the Mission
As the need grew, PRAR expanded services to include:
Animal Rehabilitation – Medical Treatment & Recovery – Adoption Services – Community Assistance Programs – Spay & Neuter Initiatives
Every effort helped reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare throughout the region.
The Critters Thrift Store • Community Support in Action
One of PRAR’s most important milestones was the growth of the Critters Thrift Store.
Every donated item helps provide: Food & Supplies – Veterinary Care – Medications – Rescue Services – Spay & Neuter Assistance
